Undergraduate Degrees in Theology

Bachelor of Sacred Theology

The Bachelor of Sacred Theology (STB) is a 63 credit hour undergraduate program designed to prepare students who are seeking ordination to the ministry. Requirements to enter the STB: an Associate degree or 60 semester credit hours (this requirement may be waived if the applicant is over 35 years old and demonstrates academic aptitude according to the American Council of Education’s guidelines for issuing credit for prior learning). At least 30 credit hours must be completed at St. Andrews.

Bachelor of Theology

The Bachelor of Theology (BTh) is a 60 credit hour undergraduate program designed to equip students to interact with today’s culture from an orthodox Christian theological perspective. Requirements to enter the ThB: an Associate degree or 60 semester credit hours (this requirement may be waived if the applicant is over 35 years old and demonstrates academic aptitude according to the American Council of Education’s guidelines for issuing credit for prior learning). At least 30 credit hours must be completed at St. Andrews.

Graduate Degrees in Theology

Master of Sacred Theology

The Master of Sacred Theology is a 63 credit hour graduate program designed to prepare students who are seeking ordination to the ministry. Requirements to enter the STM: a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution. At least 30 credit hours must be completed at St. Andrews.

Master of Theological Studies

The Master of Theological Studies (MTS) is a 42 credit hour graduate program designed to equip students to interact with today’s culture from an orthodox Christian theological perspective. Requirements to enter the MTS: a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution. At least 30 credit hours must be completed at St. Andrews.

Licentiate in Sacred Theology

The Licentiate in Sacred Theology (STL) is a 23 credit hour graduate-level academic program limited to those who possess a Master’s degree in a religious discipline from a recognized institution, who possess ministerial experience, and who intend to move from their present faith tradition to ministry in an Anglican ecclesial body. Studies are directed according to the standards of doctrine, discipline and worship of the 1928 and 1662 editions of the Book of Common Prayer.
