Certificate Programs

The Certificate in Christian Leadership is an undergraduate-level academic program designed to provide an educational background to laity who are or will be providing leadership positions in Anglican parishes. The Certificate is especially helpful for those who have a role in a parish’s Christian Education program. It is an eighteen credit hour program with no post-secondary requirements necessary to enroll.

Degree Programs

The Bachelor of Sacred Theology is an undergraduate program designed to prepare Postulants of the Orthodox Anglican Communion for the Priesthood. This program is 60 credit hours in length. Requirements to enter the STB: an Associate degree or 60 semester credit hours (this requirement may be waived if the applicant is over 35 years old). No previous academic work in religion is required. At least 40 credit hours must be completed at St. Andrews. Textbooks are included on CD free of charge for most courses in this program.

The Bachelor of Biblical Literature is a 31 credit hour program not designed to prepare one for ordination, but rather to address the needs of students seeking biblical studies from an Anglican perspective. Requirements to enter the BBL: at least 90 semester credit hours earned from a recognized institution. At least 22 credit hours must be earned at St. Andrew’s. Textbooks are included on CD free of charge for most courses in this program.

The Bachelor of Theology may be used as preparation for ordination if the applicant has an acceptable academic or ministerial background. Requirements to enter the B.Th.: at least 90 semester credit hours earned from a recognized institution, 30 of which must be in a religious discipline. At least 22 credit hours must be earned at St. Andrew’s. Textbooks are included on CD free of charge for most courses in this program.

The Master of Sacred Theology is a graduate program designed to prepare students for ordination in an Anglican jurisdiction. This program is 60 credit hours in length. Requirements to enter the STM: a Bachelor degree from a recognized institution. No previous academic work in religion is required. At least 40 credit hours must be completed at St. Andrews. Textbooks are included on CD free of charge for most courses in this program.

The Master of Biblical Theology is a 38 credit hour program providing an academically advanced study of Old Testament, Apocryphal, and New Testament documents, history, and theology. The degree requires the study of biblical languages. Requirements to enter the MBTh: a Bachelor degree from a recognized institution. At least 22 credit hours must be earned at St. Andrew’s. Textbooks are included on CD free of charge for most courses in this program (excluding biblical languages).

The Master of Theological Studies is a 31 credit hour program which may be used as preparation for ordination if the applicant has an acceptable academic or ministerial background (for example, graduates of Bible Colleges or ministers of other faith traditions with normal academic training). Requirements to enter the MTS: a Bachelor or Masters degree in a religious discipline from a recognized institution. At least 22 credit hours must be earned at St. Andrew’s. Textbooks are included on CD free of charge for most courses in this program.

The Licentiate in Anglican Theology is a fifteen credit hour graduate-level academic program limited to those who possess a Master’s degree in a religious discipline from a recognized institution, and who possess ministerial experience, and who intend to move from their present faith tradition to ministry in an Anglican ecclesial body.

The Doctor of Theology is an academic program based upon the successful completion of a dissertation of 40,000 words (approximately 160 pages in length). Requirements to enter the D.Th.: a Bachelor degree from a recognized institution and a Masters degree of at least 30 semester credit hours in a religious discipline.

The Doctor of Sacred Theology is an academic program based upon the successful completion of a dissertation of 40,000 words (approximately 160 pages in length). Requirements to enter the S.T.D.: a Bachelor degree from a recognized institution and a Masters degree of at least 60 semester credit hours in a religious discipline.
